Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
We are seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of commercial building systems. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term career growth for a hands-on maintenance professional with experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe and efficient facility operations.
Responsibilities Building Operations & Maintenance- Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair building mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections of building equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving HVAC systems, electrical systems, DDC controls, pneumatic controls, and other building infrastructure.
- Complete general maintenance tasks including:
- Painting
- Pressure washing
- Lighting repairs and ballast replacement (where permitted)
- Plumbing repairs
- Locksmith work
- Water treatment support
- Minor carpentry and building repairs
- Respond to tenant service requests and facility maintenance needs in a timely manner.
- Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage and document daily work orders.
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance activities and service requests.
- Ensure all assigned work is completed efficiently and to quality standards.
- Follow all company and site safety procedures and policies.
- Support emergency response and on-call activities as required.
- Participate in ongoing technical, operational, and safety training programs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or related trades.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair experience with commercial building systems.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet and perform physical maintenance activities including bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Trade school education, apprenticeship training, military technical experience, or college coursework in a related field.
- Universal EPA (CFC) Certification.
- Candidates willing to obtain Universal EPA Certification within the first year are encouraged to apply.
