Location: Indianapolis
Overview
Textron Aviation – Avionics Technician - Go Team based in Indianapolis, TN. This role involves testing, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced avionics systems directly on aircraft at a Textron Aviation Service Center. The technician travels within the assigned region to support customers while remaining at the home service center when not on the road.
Shift3×12 shifts, Wednesday through Friday.
Responsibilities- Lead complex functional testing, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and modification of avionics and electrical systems using FAA‑approved procedures and technical documentation.
- Perform final avionics and electrical system testing, ensure FCC compliance for all transmitting and receiving equipment, and sign aircraft logbook releases under an FAA Repairman Certificate.
- Diagnose discrepancies using in‑flight data and customer feedback, take corrective action, and accompany pilots on functional test flights as required to verify system performance.
- Act as crew lead for teams of up to five technicians, guiding troubleshooting efforts and mentoring lower‑level technicians through complex avionics issues.
- Partner directly with customers to explain avionics discrepancies, provide clear technical debriefs, and resolve concerns with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Execute work from aircraft orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and vendor data to ensure precise, compliant installations and repairs.
- A high school education or equivalent is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems.
- Ability to use arithmetic, blueprints, and specifications along with knowledge of jet and piston airframe and engine principles.
- Minimum three years of diversified experience in aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and repair.
