Job Summary

The Equipment Technician plays a key role in supporting the Field Team by assisting with equipment and chemical needs. This includes tasks such as installing and setting up plumbing and equipment, calibrating and programming control systems, priming chemical pumps, handling remote communications, and troubleshooting any issues. Additionally, the Equipment Technician is responsible for documenting and setting up service visits in the system and submitting reports to both customers and team members via email.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water treatment equipment, ensuring correct setup and leak prevention.
  • Learn and apply chemical dosing and testing to support startup and troubleshooting of water treatment equipment.
  • Start up, troubleshoot, and operate equipment for customers while teaching their teams how to use it effectively.
  • Perform performance verification, troubleshooting, and service documentation on critical water systems (e.g., RO/DI/storage/recirculation) in healthcare environments where water quality compliance and validation requirements apply.
  • Use basic knowledge of electrical systems to help operate equipment and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Work with regional service teams to share knowledge and provide guidance on equipment changes, chemical feeds, and system operations.
  • Travel to client locations to provide hands‑on assistance with installing, setting up, and training others on equipment, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Work with other teams to suggest improvements in equipment based on customer visit feedback.
  • Keep detailed records of service activities, including fixes and recommendations for future improvements, and share these with management.
  • Support other technicians with technical or customer service needs and assist with training when needed.
  • Infrequently transport small amounts of water treatment chemicals (about 5 gallons) to customer sites.
  • Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with plumbing, maintenance, general repair, or other similar work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in basic computer use, including Microsoft Office tools.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal managerial oversight.
  • Willingness to travel within approximately a 5‑hour radius of Indianapolis and be away from home for overnight travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Willingness to work evening, night, and weekend hours as needed to support urgent customer requirements; overtime or premium pay will be compensated accordingly.
  • Willingness to work in noisy or non–air‑conditioned environments.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, and lift between 50–100 lbs.
  • Ability to safely maneuver and handle water treatment equipment, including tanks and containers of varying sizes and weights, using appropriate tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring.
  • Familiarity with water treatment systems, equipment, and testing.
  • Familiarity with healthcare water quality standards or sterile processing water systems (e.g., AAMI ST108).
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).
