Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
JFS Milling has an immediate opening for a first shift Maintenance Technician at our Bruceville location located at 5167 N. State Road 67 Bruceville, IN 47516. JFS Milling, Inc. is an affiliate of Farbest Foods/Farbest Farms. This new state‑of‑the art computerized facility is responsible for the manufacture and delivery in excess of 8,500 tons per week of complete feed for turkeys.

Summary DescriptionOperate and perform planned preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of milling equipment, facility equipment, delivery trucks/trailers and utility systems. System responsibilities include augers, conveyors, specialty milling equipment, semi‑trucks, feed delivery trailers, boilers, air compressors, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, and perform maintenance activities on mill equipment.
- Have a strong understanding of operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems related to the mill and trucks/trailers.
- Have knowledge of normal operating parameters and procedures.
- Perform basic plumbing and pipe fitting.
- Perform basic mill wright work including cutting, welding, and basic fabrication.
- Maintain and operate high pressure boilers.
- Perform boiler water sampling and testing.
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment. Have a general understanding of electrical circuits. Including control voltages (24V, 120v), 3‑phase power up to 480V and single phase power.
- Basic understanding of PLC’s and PLC/equipment interfaces.
- Engage in dismantling, assembling, and installing mechanical equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Complete basic P.M’s including visual inspection, measuring, greasing, and cleaning equipment.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned. This may include but is not limited to general housekeeping and grounds keeping.
- Previous maintenance experience a plus, but not required. Three to five years of related experience preferred.
- Previous electrical and electrical troubleshooting experience is a plus.
- Previous MIG and/or Arc welding experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Experience with in the feed milling/grain industry preferred.
- Class A CDL preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to pass all medical exams, drug and background checks (including criminal).
- Physical demand requirements:
Stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift. - Must be capable of working from a ladder or other type of elevated working surface. Some surfaces are at or above 200’.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.
- Must be able to work in seasonal weather conditions. Hot, cold, wet, snow, etc.
- Ability to work required hours and shifts, including working weekends, overtime and on holidays.
- Be willing to work an on‑call rotation with other maintenance staff.
- Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
- Maintain a valid state driver’s license.
