Job Title:
Laborer – Water & Sewer Line Construction

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Laborer to join our water and sewer line construction crew. This position assists with the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground water and sanitary sewer systems. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work, and enjoys working as part of a team.

Job Duties
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of water and sewer mains, service lines, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform trenching, back filling, and compaction using hand tools and construction equipment.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist equipment operators with excavation and pipe installation activities.
  • Set up and maintain traffic control devices, barricades, and work zone safety measures.
  • Install, align, and connect pipe, fittings, valves, hydrants, and other underground utilities.
  • Grade and prepare work sites for construction activities.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and job sites.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times.
  • Perform flagging duties as needed.
  • Assist with locating existing underground utilities before excavation.
  • Work in trenches, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction or underground utility experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver's license preferred; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in trenches for extended periods.
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Ability to work in dusty, muddy, wet, and uneven terrain.
