Build your career at US Aggregates! The Maintenance/Laborer will primarily be accountable for plant upkeep, including daily shoveling and sweeping. The Maintenance/Laborer may operate plant equipment in order to maintain daily production of the plant.
Responsibilities- Service and maintain heavy equipment including loaders, skid steers, and haul trucks to keep the plant clean and in production.
- Fuel, oil, grease equipment and understand equipment safety manuals.
- Perform pre‑shift and end‑of‑shift checks and maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain general plant housekeeping and perform necessary repairs or services to mobile and stationary equipment.
- Ensure safety incident procedures and reporting processes are followed, bringing concerns to the Plant Manager.
- Communicate with management and staff regarding conditions of stationary and mobile equipment, and propose improvements or ideas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Reading, writing, and speaking in English; basic math skills.
- Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles.
- Regular, dependable attendance and high performance.
- Follow written and verbal directions; complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Complete all documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory.
- Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and other information exchanges.
- Ability to work with a team, take direction, and follow work rules.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivation and team orientation.
- Ability to be trained to complete tasks safely and effectively.
- Continuous standing or walking on level or uneven ground.
- Ability to ascend and descend railcars, ladders, stairways, and incline catwalks.
- Bending, crouching, and kneeling at waist or knees.
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Work outside most of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy).
