Position Overview
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Kendallville, Indiana, a stable company offering weekly pay and benefits.
Hourly Pay: $33.00 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
Sign On Bonus: $2000 at 30 days and $2000 at 90 days
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday
Hours: First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
- All certifications required by location (required)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test
- Pass DOT physical
- Pass Ryder road test
- Pass Ryder background & motor‑vehicle check including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties as required, e.g., Service Island support
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, and a road test and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
