Role Overview:

You will direct and perform the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of various electrical systems. You will direct a crew of skilled or unskilled employees and/or provide oversight to contractors in the completion of projects for the Joint Forces Headquarters of the Indiana National Guard in Indianapolis. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, electrical associated with heating, water, and sewage systems.

You will supervise a crew of skilled workers who may be state employees or traditional guardsmen in following general instructions and standard practices of the trade. You may be deployed to assist and advise other Building Mangers in the local area in electrical and related maintenance.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Obtain proper permits as required by law to carry out electrical work on construction or remodeling projects.
  • Inspect and evaluate electrical and electronic equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely.
  • Follow and record recommended maintenance schedule for upkeeping various pieces of equipment.
  • Study blueprints and schematics to determine methods, materials, and equipment needed to complete frequently occurring repair work.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as: forklifts, backhoe, dump truck, front end loader, bucket truck, bulldozer, and mowing equipment
  • Inspect buildings for necessary repairs.
  • Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Compile with appropriate safety requirements in the performance of duties.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
