Welder / MIG/MAG/TIG, Fabrication, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding on structural steel, piping, and miscellaneous metal components as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and project specifications.
- Fabricate, assemble, fit, and weld metal components according to project requirements.
- Measure, cut, grind, and prepare materials for welding and installation.
- Install and secure fabricated components in accordance with project plans and applicable codes.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, structural integrity, and compliance with specifications.
- Operate welding machines, torches, grinders, saws, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform field welding and fabrication work on commercial and industrial construction sites.
- Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to maintain project schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report repair needs.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety requirements.
- Identify and report job site hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Participate in ongoing technical and safety training to remain current with industry standards and welding practices.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and/or Flux-Cored (FCAW) welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and welding procedures.
- Ability to operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a construction team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience in commercial or industrial construction preferred.
- AWS welding certification preferred but not required.
- Experience welding structural steel, piping, or sheet metal is a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and overhead work.
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and elevated work platforms.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to heat, sparks, noise, dust, and welding fumes while wearing required PPE.
- Must possess the ability to adjust focus for close‑up work, with or without correction.
