Position

Summary

The Apprentice - Electrical - IN Region is an entry-level position designed for individuals seeking to develop a career in the electrical trade through hands-on training and field experience. Working under the direction of Electricians, Journeymen, and Foremen, the Apprentice assists with the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment on commercial and industrial projects throughout the Indiana Region.

This role provides opportunities to develop technical skills, learn industry standards, and gain practical experience while supporting the successful execution of construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist Electricians, Journeymen, and Foremen with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Support the installation of electrical wiring, conduit, cable tray, raceways, panels, controls, lighting systems, and related components.
  • Assist with mounting and connecting electrical devices, fixtures, sensors, switches, outlets, and distribution equipment.
  • Pull, route, label, and secure wire and cable according to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Support testing and inspection activities to verify proper operation and functionality of electrical systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical issues and performing corrective actions under the direction of experienced electricians.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other jobsite equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Assist with material handling, inventory management, and staging of equipment and materials on project sites.
  • Learn and apply National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, local codes, and company standards.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and educational opportunities to develop technical and trade-related knowledge.
  • Communicate project progress, concerns, and jobsite needs to supervisors as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and other trades to support efficient project execution.
  • Follow all GEMCO safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while promoting a safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project completion and operational success.
