Overview:

We are seeking an Automation Engineer with 2+ years of experience supporting, programming, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment. This position will provide hands‑on automation support for manufacturing systems and equipment, including PLC/HMI programming, system integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley/Rockwell automation systems using Studio 5000
  • Develop and support HMI applications using Factory Talk Optix
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and technical support for automated manufacturing equipment
  • Support commissioning, startup, testing, and qualification activities for new or modified equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, controls, instrumentation, electrical, and network‑related issues
  • Support integration of manufacturing equipment with site systems and ancillary equipment
  • Perform source code review, updates, backups, and code management
  • Support SQL/database‑related activities associated with automation and manufacturing systems
  • Assist with industrial network configuration, troubleshooting, and basic network administration
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, vendors, and OEM personnel to resolve equipment and automation issues
  • Update technical documentation, test cases, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment and automation systems

Pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing experience is a plus but not required

Candidates from consumer products, high-speed manufacturing, packaging, or similar automated manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered
  • 2+ years of automation/controls engineering experience
  • Hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and Studio 5000
  • Experience with Factory Talk Optix
  • Working knowledge of SQL and databases
  • Experience or working knowledge of network administration and industrial networking
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, and technical documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and external equipment vendors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Onsite work required in Indianapolis, IN

National (US) Range $79,695 — $121,695 USD
