JobPurpose
As a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery including, but not limited to: vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, hydraulics, electrical, general engine work, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis components.
Duties and Responsibilities- Keep up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Perform engine repair and maintenance
- Perform welding and fabrication
- Scan trucks and troubleshoot mechanical issues using electronic tools
- Perform electrical repairs
- Assist with DOT inspections
- Complete oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment
- Repair tires, including replacement when necessary
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime
- Safely execute road service calls when necessary to ensure equipment is returned in a safe manner
- Troubleshoot emissions issues
- Actively problem-solve
- Execute work orders and turn into Maintenance Supervisor for company records
- Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
- Understand work orders and labor time standards
- Experience with maintenance to be performed on refuse trucks and heavy machinery
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications are a plus but not required
- Minimum two years experience as a heavy-duty technician
- Must be able to perform basic inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, general engine, steering and suspension
