Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Diesel Mechanic role is based in Fremont, IN and focuses on maintaining and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing diagnostics on engines and systems, completing routine and preventive maintenance, and conducting repairs on drive trains, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical components. The Diesel Mechanic will inspect equipment to identify issues, document work performed, order or request necessary parts, and ensure all repairs meet company safety and quality standards.
The role also involves keeping accurate service records, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and collaborating with other team members to minimize equipment downtime.
- Strong skills in Diesel Mechanics, including troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
- Proficiency in Vehicle Maintenance, including routine service, inspections, and repair of trucks or fleet vehicles.
- Experience with Equipment Maintenance for heavy machinery and tools used in industrial or construction settings.
- Hands-on background working with Heavy Equipment, such as loaders, excavators, or similar diesel-powered units.
- Ability to perform Preventive Maintenance, following schedules and checklists to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Knowledge of safety practices, use of diagnostic tools, and familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and work orders, with strong attention to detail.
- Previous experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic preferred; relevant technical certifications or vocational training are beneficial.
- Ability to lift and move heavy components, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment.
- Reliable work habits, effective communication skills, and willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
