Job Summary:As a Maintenance Engineer at Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our property, including guest rooms, front-of-house, back-of-house, and public areas. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will directly impact the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our guests and colleagues. This hands-on role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency while performing a range of trade tasks such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
Key Responsibilities:- Facility Maintenance:
Repair and maintain hotel buildings and equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal condition. - Guest Service:
Promptly address and resolve maintenance requests in guest rooms with a professional and courteous approach. - Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and perform preventative tasks in areas including mechanical systems, electrical work, painting, carpentry, and plumbing. - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records of all tasks performed. - Emergency Response:
Assist in managing emergencies to protect guests, team members, and property systems, adhering to all safety protocols. - Work Area Management:
Keep maintenance areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and properly stored. - Collaboration:
Interact with guests and colleagues in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner. - Lost and Found:
Follow established procedures for handling items left behind in guest rooms or public areas. - Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks or projects as requested by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Adhere to all hotel and departmental safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safely operate tools and equipment in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Comfortable working in various conditions, including at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors.
- 2 years prior experience in maintenance, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in general trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, or electrical work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade certifications are a plus.
