Field Service Technician II

The Field Service Technician II installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains telecommunications equipment and infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cables, outside plant facilities, and customer premise equipment. The role involves customer interaction, promoting TDS products and services such as telephony, internet, and video, and providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include cable splicing, locating and repairing faults, supporting network systems, and performing project management tasks related to system installations.

• At least 1+ year of technical telecommunications experience or honorable military service
• 6+ months of fiber optic/copper splicing, installation, and repair training
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
• Strong understanding of fiber and copper plant installation, troubleshooting, and telecommunication products/services
• Proficiency with computer applications such as databases, trouble systems, and MS Office
• Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and independent decision-making skills
• Willingness to work on-call, occasional travel, and overtime as needed
• Ability to pass background checks, safety courses, and meet DOT requirements

• Install, test, splice, repair, and maintain telecommunications equipment and infrastructure
• Respond to troubleshooting dispatches and support network operations
• Locate and repair cable faults, including pole climbing and operating construction equipment
• Support record-keeping and project management for system installations
• Engage proactively with customers to identify needs and promote services
