Role Overview:
As a Maintenance Technician, you'll join a full-service maintenance team, supporting daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. This Monday-Friday role offers steady hours (7.5 hours a day), strong safety practices, and hands-on experience. We provide training for motivated individuals starting their maintenance career, with a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles (Maintenance Technician → Maintenance Supervisor → Physical Plant Director).

Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State's retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. This highlights the full value of your benefits package, beyond your take-home pay.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
- Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
- Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities
- Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements
- Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
- Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
- Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
- Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
- Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
- Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
- Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
- Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.
- Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
- Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
- Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
- Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License.
