The Field Truck & Bus Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing hydro-excavation trucks, over-the-road trucks, and buses at customer locations. This position requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, drive trains, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and chassis components in the field
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service work on trucks and buses
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Accurately complete work orders, service reports, labor entries, and parts documentation
• Provide professional customer service while maintaining customer uptime and meeting repair deadlines
• Operate safely and follow all environmental, contamination control, and safety procedures
• Maintain company-issued service vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory
• Effectively communicate repair recommendations and findings with customers and internal teams

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of diesel repair or related mechanical experience
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, drive trains, and vehicle diagnostics
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of diesel repair experience
• Experience working on hydro-excavation equipment
• Experience with Cummins and Caterpillar engines
• Medium or Heavy-Duty Cummins Certifications
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within six months of employment

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
• Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Professional demeanor when interacting with customers and coworkers
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and field conditions
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed to support customers
