The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to join the team in Butler, IN.

This is a senior-level, hands-on position for a technician who knows heavy equipment and can confidently troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine problems.

You will be based out of the Brandenburg area and support heavy-duty, off-road construction and industrial equipment in the field. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, getting out in the field, and taking ownership of repairs from diagnosis through completion.

Compensation

What You'll Be Doing

As a Field Service Technician, you'll diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heavy-duty off-road equipment while supporting operations in and around the Butler, IN location.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Travel to job sites and company locations using a field service truck
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment in the field
  • Operate equipment to identify mechanical and performance issues
  • Use computerized diagnostic software, including CAT ET and Cummins diagnostic platforms
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose electrical problems, wiring issues, sensors, and electronic controls
  • Repair mechanical systems, driveline components, steering, and suspension systems
  • Determine appropriate repair procedures and identify required replacement parts
  • Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment to access failed components
  • Inspect components for wear, damage, and potential reuse
  • Repair, replace, clean, adjust, and lubricate components as necessary
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication when required
  • Complete preventative maintenance inspections and maintenance checklists
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operation before returning it to service
  • Operate and maintain an assigned field service truck
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and service records
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less-experienced technicians
  • Communicate professionally with operators, customers, and operations teams
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a highly experienced technician who can work independently and confidently handle difficult equipment problems.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience repairing heavy-duty, off-road equipment
  • Extensive diesel engine troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Strong electrical diagnostic capabilities
  • Experience with computerized diagnostic systems such as CAT ET and Cummins INSITE
  • Knowledge of driveline components, steering systems, and suspension systems
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Ability to read and understand service manuals and technical documentation
  • Welding, cutting, and fabrication experience
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
