VOICES Corporation is hiring a Youth Development Specialist to support justice‑involved and system‑impacted youth participating in our structured Day Reporting Program (alternative to detention). If you have experience in juvenile justice, youth mentoring, case management, behavioral health, education, or probation support, this role offers the opportunity to directly impact young people while growing your career in youth development and restorative practices.
Position Summary
The Youth Development Specialist provides daily supervision, mentorship, structured group facilitation, and family engagement support to youth ages 12–18 involved with probation or DCS. This role requires strong behavior management skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trusting relationships with youth facing complex challenges. This is not an entry‑level support role; it is a hands‑on youth engagement and accountability position within a structured justice diversion program.
- Supervise and mentor youth in a structured Day Reporting setting
- Facilitate small groups focused on social‑emotional learning, life skills, accountability, and restorative practices
- Support academic enrichment and structured programming activities
- Communicate youth progress and behavioral updates to Program Manager
- Attend probation appointments, DCS meetings, and court hearings as needed
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians
- Support documentation, attendance tracking, case notes, and compliance reporting
- Assist with coordination of transportation logistics
- Maintain a safe, structured, trauma‑informed environment
- Collaborate with probation officers, case managers, and community partners
- Minimum age of 25 years
- Valid Driver’s License (required)
- Minimum 3 years experience working with youth and families
- Minimum 3 years experience facilitating groups
- Experience working with justice‑involved, high‑needs, or system‑impacted youth strongly preferred
- Experience in case management, probation support, youth mentoring, or behavioral intervention preferred
- Strong behavior management and de‑escalation skills
- Knowledge of Trauma‑Informed Care principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to pass DCS‑required background checks
