Description

Responsible for assisting the Youth Treatment Specialists of Pierceton Woods Academy by providing direct intervention support in times of crisis, and ongoing support before and after crisis situations.

Major Responsibilities / Activities
  • Engage with youth in crisis utilizing verbal de-escalation tools, when needed.
  • Physically intervene in crisis situations utilizing only approved and trained therapeutic techniques to ensure the physical safety of youth and staff, when needed.
  • Conduct intake searches on all youth entering the program and returning to campus from off-site visitations and home passes.
  • Provide support to program staff for room and unit searches.
  • Conduct property searches on family visitation Sundays.
  • Be present in common spaces when multiple units are together (i.e. meals, school, gym, etc.).
  • Demonstrate respect and cultural sensitivity to all clients.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times to protect clients' privacy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills required to successfully implement the program’s objectives.
  • Execute job responsibilities consistent with PWA’s Tenets of Culture, mission, vision and beliefs, while adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of PWA.
  • Offer insight and input to strengthen PWA’s performance and quality of services and to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as requested.
Requirements
Responsibilities
  • Work as a team with Pierceton Woods Academy staff to ensure PWA is able to follow the continuum of care for each resident.
  • Serve as a mentor to each youth.
  • Receive in-service orientation and training in child care methods.
  • Maintain order, intervene in crisis situations, and administer proper fair, and constructive discipline consistent with PWA's policies.
  • Maintain an understanding of each resident’s treatment plan.
  • Be aware of and carry out PWA’s guidelines and practices as defined in PWA's procedure manual.
  • Model and teach the balanced life concept in all interactions with residents.
  • Be a positive role model to the residents by demonstrating high moral and ethical standards.
  • Be active in discipleship interaction with residents and staff.
  • Promptly complete PWA’s incident reports when situations warrant reporting and ensure they are forwarded to the Residential Program Coordinator.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/ GED;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass all background checks
  • Exceptional people skills
  • Problem-solving skills
