About Pendleton Correctional Facility

Pendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum‑security facility located in Pendleton, Indiana, housing incarcerated adult males. The facility also operates an adjacent minimum‑security dormitory. While the campus has historic origins, it includes updated housing units and medical areas that support modern correctional operations. Incarcerated individuals can participate in educational programs, GED preparation, and literacy courses. Additional opportunities include substance abuse treatment, parenting courses, and vocational training in auto body repair and printing.

Staff emphasize safety, accountability, and skill development.



Role Overview

As a Correctional Casework Manager, you will supervise, train, and review the performance of Correctional Caseworkers. You will also manage a caseload of incarcerated individuals, assessing their risk and needs to develop, implement, and review their case plan.

A Day In The Life

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Provide immediate supervision to your Correctional Caseworker team for adherence to policy and procedure through the use of routine CQI assessments.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and review the performance of correctional caseworkers assigned to the unit team, assess individual strengths and weaknesses, utilize regular evaluations and frequent informal reviews of staff performance in accordance with the standards, guidelines and policies of the Department and State Personnel Department.
  • Assess each assigned offender's risks and needs utilizing the Individual Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
  • Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues.
  • Provide group and individual programming for re-entry and release as required.
  • Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders.
  • Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders.
  • Motivate and guide offenders towards positive, prosocial change by using creative approaches to strengthen relationships and reduce environmental risk factors.
  • Maintain high security standards in the unit and facility.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
