Company Description
The Center for At-Risk Elders (CARE) is a non-profit, lawyer-led organization dedicated to protecting Indiana's neglected, abused, and exploited older adults. CARE focuses on civil justice by providing legal services to establish adult guardian ships when needed, with a unique emphasis on emergency guardianship interventions. These services safeguard elders who are experiencing or are at imminent risk of financial exploitation, abuse, neglect, or self-neglect, including harm caused by relatives or other caregivers.
In addition to direct services, CARE acts as a resource for professionals and the public on issues related to caring for elders in crisis or in need of protection. Team members share a mission-driven commitment to advocacy, safety, and dignity for vulnerable elders.
The Client Advocate is a full-time, on-site role based in Indianapolis, IN, supporting elders in crisis through direct client interaction and coordination of services. This role involves meeting with clients and caregivers, gathering information, documenting concerns, and communicating regularly with attorneys and other team members to support guardianship and protective interventions. The Client Advocate will help clients navigate resources, explain processes in accessible terms, and work to ensure that individuals’ needs are understood and addressed promptly and respectfully.
Day-to-day tasks include responding to inquiries, maintaining accurate case records, monitoring client satisfaction, and collaborating with community partners, social service agencies, and healthcare providers. The role requires consistent presence in the office and, when needed, in the community to support clients, families, and professionals involved in the care of at-risk elders.

- Ability to provide Training, education, or guidance to clients, families, and professionals on care options, processes, and protective services.
- Relevant experience in social services, elder care, legal advocacy, or a related field; prior work with vulnerable populations is strongly preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychology, criminal justice, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
