Role Overview:
This position serves as Program Manager of Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $46,350.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
A Day in the Life:- Responsible for the development, acquiring funding and implementation of general audience, school programming and special events at the site.
- Working with the site operational manager, is responsible for developing and maintaining community relations through support groups and involving the historic site in community programs.
- Responsible for grant writing, procurement of corporate sponsor ships and general programming supplemental support.
- Assists in the long-range planning for the historic site, creating annual prioritized objectives and action plans, working with site operations manager to determine budget; including staffing needs, programming needs, equipment, general operating, preventative maintenance and capital biennium needs for budget requests.
- Assists in determining and implementing priorities and strategies for keeping Site spending within annual budgets.
- Responsible for assisting with of all types of State purchasing paperwork as well as money collection documentation, fiscal reports, payroll documents, monthly reports, attendance and other reports.
- Responsible for execution of work plans and delegation of staff responsibilities in conjunction with operational manager.
- Responsible for training of interpretation/programming employees to properly complete all program work assigned.
- Implements the recruitment, hiring, oversees managing and evaluating all full-time and seasonal program staff.
- Responsible for recruitment, training and oversees supervision of volunteers to assist with general programs and special events.
- Responsible for the development and presentation of public and special programs and tours.
- Working with the Regional School Services Manager is responsible for development of school tours, workshops and programs.
- Responsible for obtaining sponsor ships, partnership, and grants to assist in the funding al all school, general and special events.
- Conducts basic research to verify accuracy of information regarding historic structures, people and events connected with the Historic Site.
- Helps to solve visitor problems and complaints.
- Must be aware of and follow all Indiana State Museum Collections Policy edicts and inventory report requirements.
- Assists in the oversight regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of historic site buildings, grounds and equipment.
- May include mowing, cleaning, painting, structural and mechanical repairs and many other duties.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
- This is a professional position and requires a B.A. or B.S. degree in an appropriate field such as Historic Preservation, Education, Museum Studies, Public History or History plus two years of related experience in a museum or historic site.
- Familiar with American Association of Museums Standards related to the care and accountability of historic preservation and archaeology requirements.
