Overview

Our teams shape strategic initiatives, have passion, and work to improve health outcomes. They advance our mission and exemplify excellence, compassion, teamwork and purpose in all that they do. Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Software Design and Dev COE team in the role of Intermediate Information Services Developer. This position is a full time, hybrid role based in Indianapolis, IN.

Our team is seeking an intermediate‑level developer who enjoys solving complex problems and translating loosely defined, non‑technical business workflows into scalable technical solutions. This role focuses on building and supporting Power Platform solutions—primarily Power Apps (Canvas apps) and Power Automate—to replace manual, Excel‑based, or paper‑driven processes. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with business partners, asking the right questions, and explaining technical limitations in plain language.

Strong troubleshooting skills are essential, as the role involves debugging and maintaining applications built by others using APIs, connectors, and JSON‑based data. Overall, this person should have a “puzzle‑solver” mindset and take ownership of solutions from intake through production support.

Role Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain new and existing software systems and/or applications for internal use under general supervision. Provides support on development projects.
  • Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis.
  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation.
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed.
  • Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
  • Provide moderately complex database query skills such as SSIS, SRS, stored procedures or other complex queries to provide technical and business teams with requested data.
Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

Preferred
  • Experience with Power Apps (Canvas apps) preferred.
  • Experience with Power Automate (workflow automation, approvals, and API-based flows).
  • Proficiency with JSON for data exchange and workflow logic.
  • Experience consuming REST APIs and working with external/internal integrations.
  • Familiarity with connector-based application architectures and identity/permission management.
  • Experience supporting applications in production environments, including diagnosing and resolving issues not originally developed by the individual.
Required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience required.
  • Requires experience with one or more programming languages, including but not limited to: SQL, CCL (Cerner Command Language), HTML, CSS, XML, TCL, or JavaScript.
  • Requires database experience such as but not limited to Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
  • Healthcare, health insurance and health providers experience and understanding of processes is desired.
  • Web-based technology experience (browsers, CSS, XML, XHTML, XSLT, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, AJAX) preferred.
