Position posted on for a Software Engineer role within RTX’s Battle Management Software Department located in Indianapolis, IN. The position is onsite and requires a U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance.
What You Will Do- Use and provide creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
- Work closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end‑user and operational needs in mind.
- Support all aspects of the software development life cycle as a member of a multi‑disciplined team.
- Support new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and subsequent maintenance tasking.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
- Experience developing and testing software using C, C++, C#, Ada or closely related languages.
- Experience developing software in a Windows environment.
- Experience in computer scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date.
- Master’s Degree (MS) in a STEM discipline.
- Experience using Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Linux, Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks.
- Familiarity with DO‑178C, DO‑330, and DO‑331 software development processes.
- Knowledge of ARINC 653 and ARINC 661 standards.
- Experience with Unix/Linux computing environments.
- Familiarity with software libraries and tools such as DDS, ZeroMQ/NetMQ, OpenGL, VAPS XT.
- Experience with embedded avionics and displays.
- Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1553B serial bus.
- Experience with software optimization and timing analysis.
- Experience developing drivers for hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of computer architecture and optimization.
- Experience with Software Configuration Management principles and tools such as Git, Azure Dev Ops, etc.
- Experience in an Agile development environment.
- Experience with parallel programming principles.
- Ability to work closely in a multi‑discipline team daily.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 per year.
