Job SummaryOur Battle Management Software Department is looking for software engineers to support development, test, and other tasks throughout the software life cycle for aircraft embedded software applications. The aircraft operating system interfaces with several avionics systems including displays, navigation, and mission planning. This challenging work requires strong problem‑solving skills and the desire to learn from and work with world‑class engineers.
What You Will Do- Use and provide creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
- Work closely with Systems Engineers to design solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind.
- Support all aspects of a software development life cycle as part of a multi‑disciplined team.
- Support new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
- Experience developing and testing software using C, C++, C#, Ada or closely related languages.
- Experience developing software in a Windows environment.
- Experience in a computer scripting language such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date.
- Master’s Degree (MS) preferred in a STEM discipline.
- Experience using a Real‑Time Operating System (RTOS), e.g., Linux, Green Hills (GH) INTEGRITY, VxWorks, or other.
- Familiarity with DO‑178C, DO‑330, and DO‑331 software development life‑cycle processes.
- Knowledge of ARINC 653 and ARINC 661 standards.
- Experience in Unix/Linux computing environments.
- Understanding of software libraries and tools such as DDS, ZeroMQ/NetMQ, OpenGL, VAPS XT.
- Experience with embedded avionics and displays.
- Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1553B serial‑bus standards.
- Experience using software optimization techniques and timing analysis to ensure real‑time operation and synchronization of software products.
- Knowledge of software drivers for computer hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of common computer hardware interfaces and data protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS‑422, USB, PCI, and 1553.
- Proficiency with software debugging tools to troubleshoot implementation and ensure software integrity.
- Experience developing requirements for software products.
- Understanding of computer architecture and hardware optimization techniques.
- Experience with Software Configuration Management principles, environments, and tools such as Git.
- Experience in an Agile development environment using Azure Dev Ops or equivalent.
- Knowledge of parallel programming principles and processes for technical computing environments.
- Ability to work closely in a multi‑discipline team daily.
- Strong analytical skills.
