Software Engineer, Unix/Linux, Python, C++ Developer
The Battle Management Software Department is seeking software engineers to support development, testing, and other tasks throughout the software life cycle for aircraft embedded software applications. The aircraft operating system interfaces with several avionics systems including displays, navigation, and mission planning. This position is 100% onsite in Indianapolis, IN.
Responsibilities- Uses and provides creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
- Works closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind.
- Supports all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of a multi‑disciplined team.
- Supports new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
- Experience in software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
- Experience developing and testing software using C, C++, C#, Ada or closely related languages.
- Experience developing software in a Windows environment.
- Experience in computer scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to start date; U.S. citizenship required.
- Master’s Degree (MS) preferred in a STEM discipline.
- Experience using a Real‑Time Operating System (RTOS), e.g., Linux, Green Hills (GH) INTEGRITY, VxWorks.
- Familiarity with DO‑178C, DO‑330, and DO‑331 software development lifecycle and processes.
- Knowledge of ARINC 653 and ARINC 661 standards.
- Experience in Unix/Linux computing environments.
- Understanding of software libraries and tools such as DDS, ZeroMQ/NetMQ, OpenGL, VAPS XT.
- Experience with embedded avionics and displays.
- Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1553B serial bus standards.
- Experience using software optimization techniques and timing analysis to ensure real‑time operation and synchronization.
- Working knowledge of software drivers for hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS‑422, USB, PCI, and 1553.
- Proficiency with software debugging tools to troubleshoot implementation and ensure integrity.
- Experience developing requirements for software products.
- Understanding of computer architecture and hardware optimization techniques.
- Working knowledge of Software Configuration Management principles, environments, and tools.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Git.
- Experience in an Agile development environment using Azure Dev Ops or equivalent.
- Parallel programming principles and processes for technical computing environments.
- Ability to work closely in a multi‑discipline team.
- Strong analytical skills.

SalaryThe salary range for this role is $68,900 - $131,100 USD.
