Overview

As a Life Wise CDL school bus operator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of public school students to and from the Life Wise site. We are looking for a responsible, punctual individual with a clean driving record who is eager to make a positive impact in the lives of children.

• A mature personal Christian faith in alignment with the "What We Believe" section of the Life Wise Academy Statement of Faith
• Active participation in a local church that aligns with the aforementioned Statement of Faith
• Valid CDL driver's license, which may be kept on file by the Life Wise program
• The driver must have held this license continuously for the past three years
• Special licenses required:
• CDL with passenger (P) endorsement necessary
• School bus (S) endorsement preferred but not mandatory
• Applicants should be between 21 and 80 years of age
• CDL drivers over the age of 75 must submit a copy of their CDL and (P) Passenger Endorsement annually via support ticket
• Must possess a clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or citations in the last five years
• Must pass a comprehensive background check conducted by Life Wise Academy
• Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment, random annual tests, and post-incident tests
• Those with known medical conditions are required to obtain a yearly Physician's Statement approved by an underwriter

• Safely transport children and Life Wise volunteers to and from the Life Wise site
• Adhere to all traffic laws
• Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus
• Conduct regular inspections of the bus
• Refuel the vehicle as necessary
• Create and uphold a safe environment for children:
• Enforce safety rules for students
• Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed
• Exhibit a calm and caring demeanor
• Be attentive to students who may need assistance or are misbehaving
• Complete all required training set by Life Wise Academy
• Volunteer in the Life Wise classroom if mutually agreed upon with the director
