Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a fully on-site team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting candidate with at least three years of experience who is comfortable managing core accounting functions in a fast-paced environment. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting activities, and helping ensure day-to-day accounting operations run smoothly.

Experience with Quick Books Desktop is important, and a background in transportation or logistics would be especially valuable.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries to keep accounting records accurate and up to date.

- Maintain the general ledger and review account activity to support reliable financial reporting.

- Create financial statements and related reports for routine accounting and business review needs.

- Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy across accounting records.

- Support tax-related accounting tasks, including work connected to corporate tax and sales tax processes.

- Assist with month-end close activities by organizing supporting documentation and verifying balances.

- Use Quick Books Desktop to manage daily accounting transactions and maintain financial data integrity. Requirements - At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.

- Hands-on experience with Quick Books Desktop in a business accounting environment.

- Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation.

- Familiarity with corporate tax, corporate tax return support, and sales tax activities.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within standard business hours.

- Ability to work fully on site in Indianapolis, Indiana.

- Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is preferred.
