About the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH):
The Indiana Department of Health's mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health and safety of all Hoosiers so that they can reach their optimal health regardless of where they live, learn, work, or play.
Processes requests for travel in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Indiana Dept of Administration, State Board of Accounts, Indiana Dept of Revenue and the Comptroller's Office. Maintains a working communication relationship with other State Agencies in collaboration to travel needs. Verifies Expense Reports are correct with required documentation for the Comptroller's Office to process. Tracks and audits receipts for credit card payments.
Ensures State and County taxes aren't charged to the Agency credit card. Resolves payment issues when needed. Works with the Agency Accountant for budget errors. Audits Travel Authorizations for out of state requests for Indiana Dept of Administration's approval. Provides assistance to travelers. Works with new employees to be added to the Travel Module so they can enter their Expense Reports for reimbursement.

The Travel Team provides assistance to our travelers by handling their hotel payments and ensuring the staff are reimbursed in a timely manner so there's not a financial burden on the traveler. The Travel Team's delivery of service extends greater efficiency in completion of tasks that ensures greater success of the traveler in completing their tasks without delays and complications.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Advise the supervisor of the status of all accounts. Assist management in the preparation of agency or program area budget requests. Develop and recommend implementation of new accounting methods and procedures pertaining to this positions' area of responsibility. Advise program staff on accounting matters relating to specific program funding. Assist in the development and maintenance of general policies for a fiscal program.
Coordinate use of the computerized accounting system for the program area. Certify the accuracy of financial records and accounts. Analyze and interprets financial statements and reports. Control the flow of appropriated funds. Reconcile complex discrepancies between accounts. Interact with, and respond to, state and federal audit representatives. Make necessary adjustments to close books.

What You'll Need for SuccessIndividuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of public accounting. Thorough knowledge of federal and state accounting laws, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of agency organization and function. Thorough knowledge of automated accounting systems. Ability to solve relatively complex accounting and budgeting problems. Ability to develop accounting methods and procedures to meet agency needs. Ability to assist in budget preparation.
Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and reports. Ability to reconcile discrepancies in accounts. Ability to develop effective work relationships. Effective communication skills. A degree is not required. Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
