The Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, serves as the court's fiscal agent, trustee of child support payments, and issues marriage licenses.

Job Summary

Incumbent is responsible for a variety of clerical functions in the case management system. Provides prompt, professional, and courteous service to members of the public, primarily by phone, but also by email, or in writing. Follows established policies and procedures, is well organized, and detail oriented. Works cooperatively within a team environment to ensure all tasks are completed timely.

Requires proficient knowledge of and strict adherence to requirements and regulations related to the filing of legal documents and court proceedings; accessing court services; accessibility of court records, especially confidential records; and various fees and payment processes. Knowledge of various functions of the Clerk's Office and how it relates to other agencies.

Position Responsibilities

* Receives and responds to in-bound phone calls; directs callers to appropriate agencies within the City/County

* Responds to inquiries and requests for information from other agencies and members of the public

* Responsible for resolving customer questions/complaints

* Ensures proper routing of information to appropriate agencies

* Provides current status of previous requests and follow up to customers' requests

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to communicate effectively orally, verbally, and in written formats. Attention to detail is a priority. Requires great customer service skills and ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting.

Working Conditions

Essential functions are regularly performed in an office setting without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Physical Conditions

* Sitting at a desk the majority of the day

* Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10) pounds

* Tasks may involve extended periods of time at keyboard or workstation

* Tasks require the ability to perceive and hear sounds and see visual cues or signals

* Tasks require the ability to communicate orally
