Director of Compliance

The Director of Compliance will lead organization-wide efforts to ensure adherence to all funding requirements, legal standards, and internal policies. They will oversee monitoring, spend down, reporting and audit preparedness across financial, data and internal policies.

In partnership with the Mission Impact and Operations team, the Director will lead projections and tracking related to fund spend-down, ensuring strategic and timely use of dollars in alignment with annual and grant fiscal year budgets.

Review of Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads the organization in tracking, monitoring, projecting and reporting on spend down on reportable funding sources, including managing internally with appropriate teams.
  • Leads strategy for employee coverage across grants, including use of a salary allocation tool. Advises finance team on payroll and timesheet review and changes as needed.
  • Leads strategy for grant fund allocation and works closely in budgeting for the annual calendar year alongside the full life cycle of all grants.
  • Manages all post-award grant functions including reporting, PMRs (Program Modification Requests), claims, project tracking through Asana, etc.
  • Key liaison in communications with funders on matters of compliance.
  • Partners with Finance team, Mission Impact team and Development team as needed on all audits, primarily the single audit.
  • Creates financial and other donor reports as needed for the Development department
  • Creates and monitors grant calendar, submission, claiming and reporting dates.
  • Maintains grant contracts, reports, and correspondence, and manages report performance measures for relevant grant compliance.
  • Ensures award grant proposals are communicated to appropriate program, operations and finance team.
  • Works closely in Bloomerang, a donor management system. Supports the processing of grants through AR, tracking through Bloomerang.
  • Supports the writing of grant proposals as needed, especially with budget and data gathering, collecting relevant staff's input and participation in establishing grant outcomes and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Finance, Grants Management
  • 2-4 years of grant spend-down experience preferred
  • Facility with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Quick Books, Smart Sheets, Power BI, Intelligrants preferred.

Must possess a clear driving record. Must clear national, state, and local law enforcement criminal and sexual offender background checks and DCS history background check.
