Construction Project Manager
This Construction Project Manager role supports a growing commercial construction operation with a strong focus on concrete work and self-performed scopes. The position offers the opportunity to help build and expand a new market while benefiting from the stability, long-term employee tenure, and supportive culture of an established contractor. You will oversee commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout, collaborating closely with field operations and superintendents to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
Responsibilities- Lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring all phases are executed effectively and efficiently.
- Manage project budgets, including cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting to maintain profitability and alignment with client expectations.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using appropriate scheduling tools, coordinating with field operations and subcontractors to meet milestones and deadlines.
- Coordinate closely with superintendents and field teams to plan work, address field challenges, and ensure safe, high-quality execution of concrete and other construction scopes.
- Oversee self-performed concrete work, where applicable, including planning, sequencing, and resource coordination to optimize productivity and quality.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear, consistent communication and building strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate effective collaboration among project stakeholders, including design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and closeout materials, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Utilize project management, estimating, and scheduling software to plan, track, and report on project progress and performance.
- Prepare and manage billing processes, including AIA billing, to ensure accurate, timely invoicing and alignment with contract requirements.
- Support estimating activities as needed, including reviewing plans, preparing conceptual budgets, and assisting with bid proposals.
- Travel to project sites to conduct meetings, review progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project goals and safety standards.
- Promote a culture of long-term partnership, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the project team and across the organization.
- Proven commercial construction project management experience overseeing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and cost controls while maintaining high quality standards.
- Experience communicating directly with clients and building strong, trust-based relationships.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with field operations teams and superintendents to coordinate work in the field.
- Capability to travel to project sites as required to support project oversight and coordination.
- Stable work history with a clear interest in long-term employment and career development.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and project delivery.
Skills & Qualifications
- Concrete construction experience, particularly with self-performed concrete scopes, is highly preferred.
- Background in industrial, warehouse, healthcare, institutional, or large commercial projects.
- Experience using Procore or similar construction project management software.
- Familiarity with estimating software and participation in estimating and preconstruction activities.
- Experience with scheduling software for developing and maintaining detailed project schedules.
- Knowledge of AIA billing processes and documentation.
- Construction management experience and education are beneficial.
- Estimation experience and the ability to contribute to budgeting and bidding efforts.
