Construction Laborer (General Contracting)
The construction laborer plays a key role in supporting daily operations on a civil construction site. This position focuses on general site duties, including setting up and maintaining trailer areas, assisting with material handling and temporary structures, and performing municipal building clean-up tasks to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities- Set up and maintain trailer alleys, including assembling furniture and keeping trailers clean and orderly at all times.
- Assist with moving materials around the site, including tools, boxes, wood boards, and other construction-related items.
- Support decking construction around trailer alleys and other designated areas on the site.
- Assist with building temporary resting areas on the construction site as needed.
- Perform municipal building clean-up tasks, including dusting, sweeping, and mopping, particularly on snowy or inclement weather days.
- Work effectively in civil construction and general labor tasks, including dirt work and basic landscaping activities.
- Use hand tools and other basic construction equipment safely and correctly as directed.
- Follow site safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
- Operate company vehicles on site in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with driving and site policies.
- Experience in civil construction or general labor work, including outdoor and dirt work environments.
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and kneel regularly throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more to at or near head level on a frequent basis.
- Ability to carry materials such as tools, boxes, and wood boards safely across the site.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments, including mud, wet conditions, cold weather, and high summer heat.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- Capability to drive company trucks safely while onsite.
- Basic proficiency with hand tools commonly used in construction and landscaping.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in solar-related construction or projects in outdoor settings is beneficial.
- Familiarity with construction equipment and machinery, such as CAT equipment or GPS blade systems, is an advantage.
- Background in landscaping or similar outdoor manual work is helpful.
- Strong work ethic and reliability in a Monday–Saturday schedule with potential overtime.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with other site personnel.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based on an open construction site with a mix of indoor and outdoor work. The position involves physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and kneeling throughout the day. Work is performed around trailers, temporary structures, municipal buildings, and general site areas, using standard hand tools and basic construction equipment while adhering to site safety practices.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
