Gastroenterology Physician

Community Hospital South is seeking a Board-Certified/Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide ongoing locum tenens coverage starting December 22, 2025 January 1, 2026, with a week-on/week-off schedule (Monday Monday) beginning January 2026. This is an inpatient hospitalist GI model with scheduled clinical hours plus call.

Candidates must have a clean NPDB and no pending malpractice cases.

Assignment Length: Ongoing Long-term locums coverage

• Setting: Inpatient (no outpatient required)

• Shift Hours: 8am 4pm (flexible based on census) + pager call

• Call: Week-at-a-time, beeper call, 30-minute response required

• Patients per shift: 10;
  Admissions: 4 5/day; 6 8 call patients/day

• Support Staff: RNs, MAs, NP/PA support, hospitalist service, board-certified ER physicians

• Beds: 170 inpatient beds, including 24 ICU beds

• EMR: Epic

• Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, cautery, varices injection

• PEG placement

• Esophageal dilatation/manometry & interpretation

• Small bowel biopsy

• Colonoscopy with biopsy & polyp excision

• Sigmoidoscopy (flexible only)

Not Required: EUS, ERCP

• Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology

• Fellowship trained

• IN license or IMLC eligible

• Certifications: ACLS, BLS

• Credentialing timeframe: 90 days

• Must be available 12/22/25 1/1/26 to be considered

• Ongoing 2026 schedule: week on / week off

• Bread & butter GI coverage (no advanced endoscopy required)

• Travel & lodging provided (Marriott Residence Inn South/Greenwood recommended)
