Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

KIPP Indy is seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to cultivating a love for reading and writing in students while providing rigorous instruction that develops critical thinking and analytical skills. This role requires a teacher who can create an engaging learning environment, deliver effective lessons, and use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons in reading, writing, and literacy that foster critical thinking and a love of literature.

* Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive teaching practices to create an inclusive classroom that reflects the experiences of all students.

* Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

* Foster a classroom environment that promotes discussion, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for literature and the power of language.

* Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior, while providing appropriate support to ensure every student's success.

* Establish and maintain strong communication with families to support student learning and build a strong school community.

* Collaborate with colleagues and academic coaches to enhance curriculum and teaching practices and to ensure alignment with school-wide goals.

* Embrace feedback and work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices and professional development.

* Take ownership of your own professional growth by seeking opportunities for learning and self-improvement.

* Participate in school-wide events, family conferences, and professional development activities to support school culture and community.
