Job Description:

As a Multi-Language Learners (MLL) Teacher at Adelante, you are instrumental in bridging linguistic gaps and enriching the educational journey of scholars from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Your mission is to cultivate an environment where language learning flourishes, enabling scholars to master English while valuing their native languages and cultures.

Leveraging Adelante's rich array of language learning resources, technology, and culturally responsive teaching materials, you will design lessons that are both engaging and effective. Your teaching strategies will be rooted in understanding each scholar's unique language learning journey, emphasizing communication, comprehension, and cultural competence.

We ensure you have access to all the tools and support necessary to foster a dynamic and inclusive learning atmosphere. Your dedication to teaching and guiding multi-language learners opens doors to new opportunities for them, helping to build their confidence and skills in English and preparing them for success in their academic careers and beyond.

Your role is crucial in empowering scholars to become proficient, bilingual individuals ready to navigate and contribute to a diverse world.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Ensuring that all scholars receive the educational services needed to succeed

* Develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for all MLL scholars

* Monitor Fluent English Proficient scholars who have exited MLL services within the last two years

* Maintain cumulative folders with the required paperwork for English learners

* Run scholar reports weekly to ensure the accuracy of data

* Provide language development support via push-in or pull-out model

* Utilize WIDA framework and standards in the development of lesson plans

* Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes of scholars, including whole group (co-teaching)/small-group or individual learning.

* Actively participate in Weekly Data Meetings and Observation/Feedback Meetings, preparing, crafting, and following up with key "See It, Name It, Do It" action steps with coach

* Preparing for and facilitating scholar support meetings with scholars on their caseload, including communicating with teachers and other staff members prior to and after the meeting

* Attend IEP, 504, or other related meetings necessary for scholar assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.

* Implement social-emotional strategies to build a positive self-image in MLL scholars

* Support school-wide staff in strategies to best academically, culturally, and operationally serve the needs of MLL scholars and families

* Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards

* Implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards, and use assessment data to inform instructional practices

* Designing and administering rigorous, standards-based assessments and using assessment data to refine curriculum and instruction.

* Engage in regular training with school leaders to benefit from targeted, in-the-moment feedback on instruction

* Participate in collaborative curriculum internalization practices, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions

* Identifying incoming scholars' MLL needs, as indicated by the Home Language Survey responses

* Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for scholar behavior

* Helping to create a culture of order, structure, and academic rigor in the classroom and school as a whole.
