The Director of Advancement is responsible for securing major gifts of $25,000+ in support of the strategic needs of the University. This person will collaborate with numerous internal and external stakeholders, including the School of Business Dean and/or faculty member(s).This person is responsible for implementing fundraising strategies as it relates to major gifts including identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects with a focus on fostering positive, professional, and ongoing relationships with high capacity and emerging major gift donors.

REQUIREMENTS/
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
* 2 - 5 years of face-to-face fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing gifts.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the demonstrated ability to communicate well in writing and speak before groups.
* Knowledge of finance, planned giving, alumni engagement, corporate relations and advancement communications preferred.
* Ability to travel across the United States as needed.
* Valid Driver's License
Education
* Bachelor's degree required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Develop and execute a plan to connect donors to the University through the active use of the development process, including solicitation of major gifts.
* Responsible for securing major gifts aimed at meeting the strategic goals of the University of Indianapolis, its programs, and disciplines, ultimately reaching a minimum of $1M in gifts annually.
* Responsible for completing a minimum of 120 visits annually with donors and prospects with a minimum of 40 visits to be discovery visits.
* Identify and establish personal contact with current and prospective major gift donors whose interest and financial capacity have the greatest likelihood of strategically meeting the University fundraising goals, in consultation with the Associate Vice President of Advancement.
* Occasional evening and weekend duties.
* Frequent regional travel and occasional out-of-state donor visits.
* Orchestrate and execute the advancement of relationships with prospective donors through appropriate stages of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
* Collaborate with appropriate advancement and academic staff to develop prospect strategies and build relationships.
* Solicit prospects for gifts in support of the University's strategic plan and fundraising priorities.
* Occasionally, host or co-host receptions and other donor events locally and regionally.
* Assist with stewardship and special recognition events in conjunction with the Office of Advancement.
* Become familiar with and understand key initiatives of the University relating to faculty, students, instruction and research.
* Continually improve professional competency through training and participation in and/or leadership in professional, organizational and other not-for-profit organizations.
* Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
* Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
* Abide by the University's policies, procedures, and rules.
* Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
* Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
* Other duties, including special projects, as required, or assigned.
