Position: K-6 Physical Education Teacher (Founding Teacher)
IMSA Central is a brand new expansion charter school opening in Fall 2026. As a Founding Teacher you have the opportunity to help build a school from day 1. A Physical Education Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering a high-quality, engaging physical education program that promotes fitness, health, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship. The PE Teacher will create an inclusive and safe environment where all students can build physical skills, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.

This role requires strong classroom management, clear instructional delivery, and close collaboration with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student growth. This role will also support delvelopment of athetics teams for grades 3-6.

Requirements:

Instructional Planning and Delivery:

* Develop and implement PE lesson plans aligned with state standards and school curriculum.

* Teach fundamental motor skills, fitness concepts, sports rules, and cooperative games across grade levels.

* Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to meet the physical and developmental needs of all students.

* Use assessments to measure student progress, skill development, and mastery of fitness standards.

* Ensure all activities are structured, purposeful, and supportive of students' physical well-being.

Classroom & Gym Management:

* Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior, safety, and sportsmanship in all PE settings.

* Manage equipment, space, and routines to ensure efficient, safe transitions and class flow.

* Address behavioral issues promptly and in alignment with school policies.

* Create a positive learning atmosphere where students feel encouraged to participate and take risks.

* Uphold safety protocols during physical activities, games, recess, and field events.

Student Support and Differentiation:

* Adapt instruction for students with diverse physical abilities, needs, or medical considerations.

* Collaborate with special education and support staff to implement required accommodations and modifications.

* Provide targeted support for students needing additional skill development or behavior reinforcement.

* Maintain accurate records of student participation, performance, and progress.

Communication and

Collaboration:

* Communicate regularly with families regarding student participation, expectations, or concerns.

* Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

* Collaborate with grade-level teams and administrators to support school-wide initiatives and events.

* Coordinate with teachers and staff to integrate health and wellness themes into broader school programming.

Professional Development and Growth:

* Engage in ongoing professional development to improve instructional practice, student engagement, and safety management.

* Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback to support continuous improvement.

* Stay current with best practices in physical education, child development, and student health.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Physical Education, Health, Kinesiology, or related field.

* Valid Indiana Teaching License in PE/Health (or ability to obtain one).

* Previous teaching or coaching experience is preferred.

* Ability to instruct students at various skill and fitness levels.

* Ability to lift, set up, and manage physical education equipment.

* Must complete and clear all required Indiana background checks for school personnel.
