Position: Computer Science Teacher (Founding Teacher)
IMSA Central is a brand new expansion charter school opening in Fall 2026. As a Founding Teacher you have the opportunity to help build a school from day 1. A Computer Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in computer science, digital literacy, and foundational STEM skills for students. This teacher will implement an approved state-aligned computer science curriculum, integrate problem-solving and computational thinking across lessons, and create an engaging, safe, and innovative learning environment.

The role requires strong instructional planning, consistent classroom management, and collaboration with colleagues to support student growth in both academic and technical skills.

Requirements:

Instructional Planning and Delivery:

* Develop and implement engaging computer science lessons aligned to Indiana's High-Quality Computer Science Standards and the school's curriculum.

* Teach grade-appropriate coding, digital literacy, cybersecurity basics, algorithms, and computational thinking concepts.

* Integrate hands-on learning, including robotics, block-based coding, and technology exploration.

* Utilize multiple instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

* Use formative and summative assessments to track student mastery and inform instructional decisions.

* Prepare and maintain technology, devices, software, and materials necessary for instruction.

Classroom Management:

* Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior in a technology-rich environment.

* Ensure all students follow digital citizenship guidelines and safe technology use practices.

* Create a structured, supportive classroom that promotes problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.

* Manage transitions, computer lab routines, device distribution, and equipment care efficiently.

* Address behavioral issues promptly and according to school policies.

Student Support and Differentiation:

* Provide targeted interventions, small-group instruction, and enrichment opportunities based on student data.

* Support students with IEPs, ILPs, or 504 plans by implementing required accommodations and modifications.

* Scaffold lessons so all learners-beginner through advanced-make progress in CS skills.

* Maintain accurate records of student performance, participation, and progress toward standards.

Communication and

Collaboration:

* Communicate clearly and professionally with families regarding class expectations, student progress, and behavior.

* Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and school-wide technology initiatives.

* Collaborate with grade-level teams, STEM teachers, and instructional coaches to integrate computer science into broader STEM experiences.

* Support school robotics clubs, competitions, or technology events as assigned (may require after-school or weekend participation with additional compensation).

Professional Development and Growth:

* Engage in ongoing professional development related to computer science instruction, coding tools, educational technology, and STEM best practices.

* Implement feedback from administrators and coaches to strengthen instructional quality.

* Stay current with emerging technologies, platforms, and trends in K-12 computer science education.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Education, STEM, or related field.

* Valid Indiana Teaching License or ability to obtain one.

* Experience teaching computer science, STEM, or technology to K-5 students is preferred.

* Strong understanding of coding platforms, robotics tools, and educational technology systems.

* Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues and manage devices in a classroom setting.

* Must complete and clear all required Indiana background checks for school personnel.
