Infant Toddler Teacher

Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher - Childcare/Daycare Center

Job Summary:

The Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years. This role emphasizes nurturing care, early learning experiences, and safety. The Lead Teacher provides direct supervision to assistant teachers and ensures a warm, secure, and stimulating environment that supports each child's individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement lesson plans and activities that support the developmental needs of infants and toddlers, including sensory, motor, language, and social-emotional skills.
• Provide responsive care through feeding, diapering, napping, and one-on-one interactions, in alignment with each child's routine and developmental stage.
• Create and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that supports exploration and learning.
• Observe and document developmental milestones and maintain up-to-date child portfolios and daily reports.
• Foster strong, trusting relationships with children and their families; communicate regularly about the child's day, progress, and any concerns.
• Model appropriate behavior and guide assistant teachers in best practices for infant/toddler care.
• Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and health and safety guidelines.
• Attend staff meetings and ongoing professional development in early childhood care and education.

Qualifications:

• CDA, Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler Development, or a related field (or state-required equivalent).
• Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher certification (as required by state licensing).
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong understanding of infant/toddler developmental milestones and responsive caregiving.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing demeanor.
