The teacher salary schedule is based on teaching experience and starts at Bachelor's $53,000/Master's $54,000 with 0 years of experience.

JOB EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Position Purpose / Description

The Teacher is responsible for teaching groups of students in a classroom setting, based on a curriculum and supported by instructional materials. The Teacher is responsible for developing daily lesson plans to ensure that the Teacher covers the curricular content in a timely manner throughout the semester or school year. The Teacher uses various instructional methods and techniques to meet the unique needs of the individual students and to assess their learning;

the Teacher modifies instruction, re-teaches and remediates to ensure the students' success.

Essential Functions

* Work with students whose behavior, school progress, and social skills indicate a need for assistance

* Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of the problem and provide solutions

* Meet with parents to discuss student's progress, needs and behavior plans and suggest/model ways they can promote learning and development

* Provide behavior support and suggestions for the classroom environment

* Assist teacher in writing and facilitating Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans/Committee for Academic and Behavioral Supports

* Assist teachers in developing accommodations and/or modifications to meet student academic and behavioral needs

* Support students during the transition from a noneducational setting to a traditional public school environment

* Proactively assess and address behavior in the alternative setting prior to contacting the administration for guidance

* Provides research based instruction to address behavioral goals

* Provide daily progress monitoring of student behavior (after transition back to class)

* Provide crisis prevention intervention strategies for students displaying unsafe behaviors

* Teach strategies to develop coping mechanisms to overcome identified skills (from behavior screener)

Additional Duties

* Meet regularly with building administrators and MTSS team to provide information regarding school wide behavior trends and concerns

* Develop and facilitate mentoring groups for students

* Collaborates and consults with educational professionals and community service providers (social services, public health, ABA Centers, and medical providers, etc.) regarding the needs of students

* Serve as a resource for staff for re-engaging students by bridging families to resources

* Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities

* Other tasks/duties as assigned by the supervisor

* Knowledge in brain based interventions and social skills lessons

* Understand and model positive behavioral intervention supports

* Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying academic levels, English language learners, students with disabilities, and other diverse learners
