AVID Tutor – High School Education

The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township (MSDWT) has an opportunity for a dynamic individual to join their team as an AVID Tutor at North Central High School. This position is non-exempt and hourly, with a rate of $17.00 per hour. The work schedule is Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 3:30pm for the school year, which spans 185 days.

The AVID Tutor will work under the direct supervision of the AVID teacher and will be responsible for:

• Familiarizing with AVID library materials and textbooks
• Tutoring students in small groups across various subject areas
• Conducting brainstorming sessions and working individually with students in the writing process
• Evaluating student binders and conducting mini-lessons in writing, study skills, and college preparation
• Communicating with the AVID teacher about student progress and areas of concern

The ideal candidate should be enrolled in or be a graduate from a four-year college or university. They should be a motivated, organized, and successful college student or graduate who can serve as an excellent role model for AVID students.

Physical requirements include the ability to work at a desk often, see for reading purposes very frequently, hear and understand speech at normal levels very frequently, and communicate clearly for normal conversation very frequently. The position seldom requires standing, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, or overhead work.
