2026-27 High School Science Teacher
We are looking for a knowledgeable and passionate high school science educator to teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. KIPP Indy science teachers are responsible for delivering inquiry-based instruction that helps students understand and apply key scientific concepts while developing critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and delivering engaging lesson plans for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics that align with state standards; fostering scientific inquiry and experimentation in the classroom; regularly assessing student progress and using data to inform instruction; maintaining an organized and safe laboratory and classroom environment; building relationships with students and families to support academic and personal success; collaborating with the academic team to plan instruction and align curriculum across grade levels;
providing real-time feedback to students to promote their growth in science; using differentiated instruction and scaffolding techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners; actively working with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices; and taking ownership of professional development by seeking out learning opportunities and reflecting on teaching practices.
Competencies include expertise in teaching history, geography, and civics to middle school students; ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs; cultural competency and the ability to create inclusive learning environments; passion for equity and belief in the potential of all students.
QualificationsQualifications include a valid Indiana teaching license with certification in science (required); a bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (required); experience teaching high school science (preferred); a strong record of helping students succeed academically (preferred); expertise in creating a safe and engaging lab environment (preferred); commitment to KIPP Indy's mission and vision (required); and passing a criminal background check (required).
AdditionalInformation
Licensed teacher starting at $50,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
