Qualifications
  • Teaching license (secondary 5-9)
  • Understanding and commitment to urban education and communities
  • Strong technological skills
  • Strong communication skills with various audiences (parents/guardians, students, teachers, administrators)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving
  • Strong multi‑tasking and organizational skill.
Basic Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction middle school students in an alternative setting.
  • Supports student behavioral needs, as necessary.
  • Keep principal informed of potential problems or unusual situations.
  • Handle routine discipline referrals and refer serious situations to Principal.
  • Contact parents as needed and participate in parent conferences.
  • Communicate with Principal related to discipline referrals.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate support for school, its goals, and objectives.
  • Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
