Project Lead Way H.S. Engineering Teacher

PLTW/Pre-Engineering CTE Instructor

McKenzie Center for Innovation & Technology is currently accepting applications for a PLTW/Pre-Engineering CTE instructor. Instructor must have completed or be willing to complete the PLTW curriculum training in order to teach PLTW courses. The PLTW/Pre-Engineering CTE Instructor will teach assigned courses to include:
Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) in the NLPS Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Pathway. PLTW curriculum training is available and expected to be completed at the earliest opportunity. This person will work with a team of PLTW Pre-Engineering teachers in a diverse setting. Instructor will create a classroom environment for students to learn effectively. Instructor will follow Indiana State Standards for courses taught.

Required Qualifications:

Valid teaching license (or be eligible for a teaching license) in Indiana in CTE:
Trade & Industrial Engineering 5-12, CTE:
Trade & Industrial Drafting & Computer Aided Design (CAD) 5-12, or Workplace Specialist in related field approved for the Advanced Manufacturing:
Engineering CTE pathway.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach District-approved curriculum.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Provide and instruct on safe usage of the equipment in the lab and instructional equipment in the learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of careers, curriculum, and concepts within the field of Engineering.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:

• Works in school building environments.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Experience in Skyward Qmlativ Student Management System and Canvas Student Learning Environment.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals established clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Observes, recognizes and addresses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties.
