Position SummarySkilledUS is seeking a dedicated and reliable substitute to support our career and technical education programs and adult education pathways. This role ensures continuity of instruction across CTE pathways such as Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, IT, Education, and other skilled trades, as well as adult education programming, including GED preparation, ELL, and Integrated Education and Training (IET) courses. This position is ideal for individuals who are committed to helping students and adult learners explore hands-on career options and thrive in a safe, structured, career-focused learning environment.
EssentialFunctions & Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction & Student Support:
- Provide substitute coverage for CTE instructors and adult education instructors during scheduled or unscheduled absences.
- Deliver lesson plans provided by lead instructors and maintain instructional continuity across both CTE and adult education classrooms.
- Support hands-on lab activities in technical classrooms while enforcing safety protocols.
- Facilitate adult education instruction (e.g., GED prep, ELL, foundational literacy/numeracy) as needed, following lead instructor materials and lesson plans.
- Maintain an orderly classroom environment and promote positive student and adult learner behavior.
- Assist with attendance, transitions, and overall student/learner engagement.
Career & Technical Program Support:
- Support proper use of tools, equipment, and materials in labs and workshops.
- Reinforce industry safety standards and SkilledUS expectations.
- Assist with student skill development, technical vocabulary, and professionalism.
- Support adult learners in building foundational academic skills alongside career readiness.
- Work collaboratively with SkilledUS and school staff to meet program goals across all pathways.
Administrative & Organizational Duties:
- Accurately clock in/out and adhere to required time-tracking procedures.
- Communicate proactively with school leaders and SkilledUS program staff regarding classroom needs across both CTE and adult education settings.
- Complete required safety trainings and relevant CTE and adult education instructional compliance modules.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, trade school credential, or industry certification preferred.
- An Indiana CTE State Teacher Permit or CTE Workplace Specialist license is a strong plus.
- Experience or familiarity with adult education instruction (GED, ELL, WIOA Title II programming) is a plus.
- Part-time role: up to 32 hours per week
- Weekly schedule aligned with school hours, events available if desired
- Summer hours available
- Hourly compensation based on experience and CTE credentials
