Teacher Aide
Heritage Christian School is seeking a teacher aide to provide support to the classroom teacher by performing daily duties and responsibilities that assist in the care and education of students.
Qualifying characteristics include being a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The employee is committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education. In addition, the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, representing Christ and HCS professionally and positively with the HCS community-at-large, including faculty and staff, Board members, parents, volunteers and others is crucial to the success of this role.
Educational and experience requirements include a high school diploma, and a teaching degree is ideal, but not essential. Experience working in a classroom or another setting with children is highly desired.
Essential skills and abilities include time management, ability to work with children and adults, clear verbal communication skills, and excellent work ethic.
Major responsibilities include assisting in the daily arrival and dismissal of students, assisting in lunch duties and recess duties for the grade level assigned, tutoring children individually or in small groups as directed by the classroom teacher, assisting the classroom teacher in daily duties as requested and assigned, acting as substitute teacher as the need arises and as requested by the school principal or designee, assisting the classroom teacher in clerical work such as phone calls, grading, assisting with bulletin boards, typing, proofreading, daily classroom preparations, assisting with special events within a grade level, assisting with special activities and projects within a classroom or grade level.

Physical requirements include being able to traverse the classroom and campus, use a computer and other audio-visual equipment, ascend and descend stairs, lift 25 pounds, sit, stand, kneel or bend to work with children, and assist children for health and safety reasons.
Work environment is primarily indoors in a classroom setting and around campus, and outdoors with some exposure to the elements is to be expected while assisting with student arrival, dismissal and recess duty.
Work schedule follows the academic calendar. Full time positions are Monday to Friday with standard hours of 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Part time hours vary.
