Position: Early Childhood Education Micro-Credential Adjunct Faculty: Growth and Development Skilled

Early Childhood Education Micro-credential Adjunct Faculty

The Early Childhood Education Micro-credential adjunct faculty will be responsible for preparing the micro-credential in Canvas, leading a virtual welcome session with participants prior to the start of the micro-credential, responding to participant communication, monitoring participant progression through the 4-week micro-credential, and grading assignments. Following the conclusion of the micro-credential, the adjunct faculty will assign a pass/fail and communicate with the Executive Director, Early Childhood Pathways & Initiatives.

    Capable of thriving in a dynamic, evolving work environment with shifting priorities.

    Commitment to inclusive practices that promote access and success in early childhood education.
Major Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods (e.g. Canvas).
  • Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively and, regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students, co-workers, and supervisor in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, quality online educational environment.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
  • Must meet Program Standard for Ivy Tech's policy for Faculty Credential Standards.
  • Knowledge of Indiana's early care and education landscape, including different auspice types and urban and rural settings.
  • Expertise with children ages 0-5.
Additional Information

Each micro-credential session is 4 weeks.

Each session may have up to 25 participants.

The micro-credentials are for:

  • ECE professionals who have not yet earned an early childhood credential, such as an Associate Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development.
  • Career changers who are interested in becoming an early childhood education professional and want to build their knowledge and skills.
  • ECE professionals who are not yet enrolled in Ivy Tech and are looking for an opportunity to get started on an academic path.
  • ECE professionals who work in any type of setting: centers, registered ministries, or family-homes.
  • ECE professionals looking to renew their CDA.
