Selectek has partnered with a growing aviation client in the Indianapolis, IN Metro area that is looking for a Cabin Engineer Lead to design and analyze aircraft cabin interior systems components needed to support Aircraft interior modifications.
Base salary commensurate with experience and education.
Job Description:
Successful candidate will perform a variety of aircraft cabin/interiors engineering work including drawing interpretation, design and substantiation as related to transport category aircraft cabin interior modifications.
What you will be responsible for:
- Research new technology (material and manufacturing processes) for use in seating and interior products for the development of new lightweight and cost-efficient products.
- Design and analyze aircraft cabin interior systems and components, typically in support of aircraft interior modifications (STC projects) including integration of seats, monuments, PSUs, flooring, emergency equipment, sidewall/dado/ceiling panels, windows, stowage bins and placards.
- Work independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding scope and parameters.
- Coordinate and monitor cabin interiors aspects of project schedule with project managers and cabin engineers.
- Prepare cabin interior modification/installation/fabrication drawings, engineering reports and work instructions. Support cabin engineers with assignments and skills development as needed.
- Participate in design reviews and presentations with suppliers, customers, and various internal departments to obtain input on, agreement with, and understanding of project objectives and schedules.
- Troubleshoot aircraft issues during STC prototype and post STC using standard testing tools and methods.
- Travel both domestically and internationally (up to 10%).
- 5+ years of engineering design or analysis experience.
- Experience with commercial aircraft (Airbus or Boeing) required.
- Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs - from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.
- Familiarity with the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and technical publications (i.e.:
Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC)). - Experience creating engineering details, assemblies and installation drawings using AutoCAD/Inventor, Solidworks or other standard engineering drawing convention.
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
